This summer, the Felix Project launches a brand new East London warehouse and professional kitchen to turn surplus food into meals and deliver food packages across Tower Hamlets, Hackney and Newham.
Fight hunger on your doorstep. £30 delivers 183 meals in East London.
During the summer holidays, free school meals end. In East London, where over 50% of children live in poverty, families struggle to get by. Things are even more difficult post-pandemic. As Laura, a mum from Hackney, explains: "I’ve been at work less often than normal. Getting necessities has been difficult."
Our new warehouse and kitchen will cook surplus food from local businesses - as well as major national food retailers - and deliver it as ready-made meals for people in need.
I was a Top Chef and have worked in the fine dining industry for a long time before I began making food for 1000's of refugees in the camps in Calais. Now, I'm joining Felix to help feed East London. I am excited that in the new kitchen we can now turn amazing surplus food into delicious and nutritious dishes for those in London who truly need it. From children who go without a decent meal every day or others who have to choose between paying rent or buying food. No one should go hungry and together we can achieve that.
“ We would see a lot more hungry children if food from Felix stopped ”
We are proud to keep a high spend efficiency. 81p in every £1 you give spent in preventing food waste and delivering surplus food to charities feeding vulnerable people in London.
