“ We would see a lot more hungry children if food from Felix stopped ”
There is a child hunger crisis in East London:
Child hunger is a reality happening on our doorstep and made worse by the covid-19 pandemic. But the solution also lies close to home.
Felix's Kitchen, launching in collaboration with the London Evening Standard, is a 4400 sq ft professional kitchen staffed by chefs and volunteers.
Felix's Kitchen will turn surplus food from our new warehouse next door, into healthy pre-packaged ‘ready meals’. Our volunteers will then deliver these meals, along with more food from our warehouse, to charities across Tower Hamlets, Hackney and Newham for families and others in need.
Felix’s Kitchen is the first of its kind operating on this scale in London – and a direct answer to the increased need caused by the COVID 19 crisis
“ During the pandemic, we worked with high-end restaurants and hospitality to create more than 500,000 ready-meals for vulnerable Londoners. From this experience, we learned there will be huge, continuing demand for these meals, which are made from surplus food, donated to us by suppliers; good food which is at risk of going to waste. ”, CEO , The Felix Project
