Volunteer as a warehouse assistant volunteer - help us sort surplus rescued food and prepare deliveries for our community organisations
Volunteers walk, cycle or drive one of Felix's electric vans to collect surplus food and deliver it straight out to local community organisations in Central London

Log into Felix's Volunteer PortalThe Felix Project is London's biggest food redistribution charity. We work with businesses to rescue their good quality surplus food - food that would otherwise go to waste - and deliver it free of charge to hundreds of local charities and schools in London to help children and families, the elderly, the homeless, and more.
“I've spent some mornings preparing crates of food to go out in the vans, sorting goods in the fridges, sorting through the fruit and veg and just generally being a helping hand.
I love being part of something that makes a difference and The Felix Project does absolutely that, it makes such a difference to so many people.”
Ana, Felix Volunteer and HR manager at the Mandarin Oriental in Hyde Park.
You need to be 16 years or older in order to volunteer with us. However, if you are under 18, you must be accompanied by an adult who will volunteer alongside you.
You need to be fairly active to be a Felix volunteer. Warehouse, Green Scheme and van roles involve lifting - sometimes crates of food and boxes can weigh up to 10kg. However, we do have office roles and will work with you to find a role that suits your physical fitness.
Felix's Volunteer Drivers need a valid UK licence. Felix drivers must be over 21 years old and have been driving for over 1 year, with no more than 6 points on their licence. We also ask drivers to complete a minimum of 1 warehouse shift, 2 co-driving shifts and an assessment before setting out on the road alone. This is so our drivers feel comfortable in our vans and confident with our processes.
All volunteers must be over 16 and must sign up individually. Once you've completed your training, you may be able to book onto a shift at the same time as your friend or family member. But we have no capacity for official 'group' bookings.
The times of our volunteering shifts differ between the different roles and locations. Typically, most volunteering shifts last for a few hours and run during working hours in the mornings and afternoons. We also have some evening and weekend shifts available. Timings are subject to change but here is a rough idea of our operational schedule:
Green Scheme:
Monday-Friday, 1-3 hours from 8.30am-9pm (shift times vary)
East London Kitchen & Depot (Poplar):
Monday-Friday, 4-6 hours from 7.30am-8pm
Saturday, 4-6 hours from 8am-4pm
(shift times vary depending on the role)
North London Depot (Enfield):
Monday-Friday, 4-6 hours from 8am-7pm
Saturday, 4-6 hours from 8.45am-4.30pm
(shift times vary depending on the role)
South London Depot (Deptford):
Monday-Friday, 4-6 hours from 8am-5pm
Saturday, 4-6 hours from 8am-4pm
(shift times vary depending on the role)
West London Depot (Park Royal):
Monday-Friday, 4-6 hours from 7am-7pm
Saturday, 4-6 hours from 8am-4pm
(shift times vary depending on the role)
That is entirely up to you. We do not request a minimum or maximum commitment from our volunteers.
Volunteering with Felix is very flexible - once you've completed your first shift, you will be able to book any available sessions that suit you.
To book a volunteering shift, you must complete your volunteer intro session and training. Start by choosing your preferred location to volunteer from and then book an info session to learn more about available roles.
The Felix Project has operations throughout London, in Park Royal, Enfield, Deptford, Poplar, and Central London. To become a volunteer, pick your preferred location to attend an info session for more details.
