Green Scheme (Central London)

Our Green Scheme offer involves a group of volunteers ‘owning’ one of our Green Scheme routes for a period of time (minimum term is 3 months), committing to filling one shift per week with 1 or 2 volunteers. Green Scheme is an A to B collection and delivery service, offering a range of walking/cycling volunteer shifts in Central London. Most shifts are 1-2 hours in duration. For more information, please contact [email protected]

becoming a partner

Over the last six months, we have received many requests from companies to volunteer as part of employee engagement and CSR initiatives. While this interest and support is hugely appreciated, we run a 'partner first' process when booking groups. In the main, this means our strategic partners get priority bookings followed by our corporate supporters. Any remaining available shifts in the volunteer rota are then offered to our wider mailing list of non-partner companies and groups.

start your group volunteering journey with us

If you think we could be a good match for your organisation, you can request to register as a group lead to be the main touch point for future opportunities, or sign up to our group volunteering mailing list so we can keep you updated when the next group volunteering opportunities with Felix opens up.

Charges & Cancellations

We request a donation for £50 per volunteer for each shift. This helps cover the cost of resources associated with hosting Group Volunteers including staff time, refreshments, and personal protective equipment (aprons, hairnets, steel toe capped boots, hi-viz jackets).

Please donate here.

Our strategic partners and committed corporate supporters are exempt from this request, and enjoy prior access to our volunteering opportunities.

About Cancellations

Cancellations can have a detrimental impact on our operations; without sufficient volunteers, we simply cannot rescue and deliver enough food to the organisations that rely on us. Therefore, we ask groups to stay committed to their shift date and the number of spaces requested. Please keep this in mind when booking your volunteer dates.

In Q1 alone, the charity suffered a 26% reduction in number of people attending verses number booked. This equates to 288,000 meals not reaching the community. For this reason, we do everything we can to protect the operation.

We strongly suggest that group organisers consider creating a waiting list for a shift to backfill any drop-outs, avoiding the charity and its beneficiaries being let down at the last minute.

Our cancellation policy

  • Four Weeks or more in advance: Cancellations or volunteer number decreases made four weeks or more in advance may be given the option to reschedule, subject to available dates.
  • Three or fewer weeks in advance: We will request a donation of £50 per head for shift cancellations or volunteer number decreases of two or more people within three weeks of a shift. This is to cover any additional operational costs incurred. This will not apply to Group Leads booking ‘gap filling’ shifts within two weeks of the shift date.
  • No shows: We will request a donation for more than two no shows per booking, at a rate of £50 per no show.

We request that payment is made within a week of receiving the invoice. Felix reserves the right to restrict an organisation’s ability to book further shifts if this is delayed.

We will work on a three-strike rule: should your group or organisation receive charges due to any of the points above more than three times in a 12-month period, the company and employees will not be able to book groups to volunteer in the future. This will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Indicator

Can we start late / finish early?

Due to the nature of what we do at The Felix Project, all volunteers are required to be present for the health and safety briefing at the start of the shift. Being late or missing this briefing will mean those volunteers may NOT be allowed to volunteer.

The shift timings are set based on the support needed in each part of the operation. It’s incredibly detrimental to the charity’s ability to fulfil its commitment of getting food to the community when volunteers start late or leave early, so these requests will not be facilitated. If you have team members who cannot commit to the timings of the shift, please do not ask them to sign up.

Indicator

What size group can you accept?

We can accommodate any group size between one and 15, depending on the location.

Indicator

What about filming and photography

We can accommodate photographers and small film crews with prior notice. Before agreeing to host, please let us know how many people will be attending, what equipment they will be bringing, and what time they will be coming. We request that any filming or photography take place towards the end of the shift and be as brief as possible.

What's your cancellation policy?

We urge groups to stay committed to their booked dates and the number of spaces requested. Cancellations and decreases in volunteer numbers have a significant impact on our operations.
