And now, we're calling attention to the scandals of food waste and hunger by sharing classic takeaway recipes you can recreate at home with the leftovers in your fridge. So let's watch James May put his leftovers to the test with his latest recipe.

James May's Leftovers Stir Fry

INGREDIENTS

Leftover chicken
A spring onion
2 small chillies
A small piece of ginger
A small carrot
A egg
Leftover rice
Oyster sauce
Maggi seasoning
Vegetable oil


METHOD

  1. Chop up all your ingredients, and crack the egg into a small bowl.
  2. Put the wok or frying pan on a medium/high heat and add some oil.

  3. Add the ginger, cook it for a minute or so.

  4. Add the rice, make sure to cook it thoroughly.

  5. Move the rice to the sides of the wok or pan and add the egg to the middle of the pan. Scramble it then mix it into the rice.

  6. Move the rice to the side again, then add the carrots and chillies.

  7. Mix them around then add a healthy dollop of oyster sauce.

  8. Turn the heat up then add the chicken.

  9. B​ung in the spring onion

  10. S​quirt in Maggi Seasoning, stir it all up
