A Celebration of Community: The Felix Project and Partners Deliver 400 Halal Meals for Ramadan

20 March 2026

In a major collaborative effort to celebrate the spirit of Ramadan, The Felix Project and FareShare UK recently joined forces with Well One, Muslim Aid UK, and Poplar HARCA to provide hundreds of nourishing meals for the local community observing the holy month.

Anchored by a generous 75kg donation of halal lamb from Muslim Aid UK, a group of local women, supported by the chefs at the Felix Kitchen, prepared over 400 meals for those breaking their fast at Iftar. The menu was designed by nutritionist Shaymaa Mohammed as part of Well One’s "Balanced Ramadan," a community project centered on food, sharing, and wellbeing. The initiative focuses on finding ways to use nutritious ingredients while keeping flavor and tradition at the heart of every plate.

Under the guidance of chefs from The Felix Project, the volunteers scaled the recipe to 100 times its original size. This massive undertaking required mountains of surplus vegetables, ginger, and garlic to be prepared by hand before making use of the Felix Kitchen facilities to cook the meals in bulk.

This initiative comes at a time of heightened awareness regarding food accessibility. National research commissioned by Muslim Aid indicates that Muslim adults in the UK are twice as likely to experience food insecurity as the wider population. To help address this disparity, the finished meals were delivered directly to local community hubs, including the Bow Brew Cafe, Poplar Union, and a local mosque, where they were made available to the public free of charge.

By combining resources, expertise, and a shared passion for community welfare, the participating organisations demonstrated that the values of Ramadan—charity, sharing, and support—remain at the heart of their collective mission.
