The Felix Project and FareShare CEO, Charlotte Hill, appointed to Prime Minister’s new Civil Society Council

March 2026

Leading voices from across the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector have today been appointed to the new Civil Society Council, established by the Prime Minister to bring civil society into the heart of government decision‑making.

On her appointment, Charlotte said: “The greatest, most sustained change happens through genuine cross-sector collaboration, and that belief is at the heart of everything The Felix Project and FareShare have built together. Our merger is itself a statement of that principle: that when organisations unite around a shared mission, our impact multiplies.

I am delighted to bring that experience to the Prime Minister's Civil Society Council. Our work with government through the Tackling Food Surplus at the Farm Gate Scheme has demonstrated what becomes possible when charities, businesses, and government pursue shared objectives.

In this case, reducing food waste while getting fresh, nutritious food from farms to the families who need it most.  We’ve already seen incredible examples of this happening elsewhere in the food redistribution sector, where initiatives like the Coronation Food Project are already making great strides.

We have a great opportunity to deliver real impact from the Council, but the responsibility to deliver real action is on us all."

The Council will drive a new approach to partnership with civil society, overseeing implementation of the Civil Society Covenant at national and local level. It will provide a central forum to address issues that cut across government, including social cohesion and public service commissioning, and to identify opportunities for civil society to play a greater role in the design and delivery of policies and services. Find out more here.
