A twist on a traditonal brownie

Step 1:
Gather all your ingredients and preheat your oven to 175 degrees.
Step 2:
Sift your flour into a bowl and mix in the baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. In a seperate bowl, mix the melted butter, vanilla extract, plant milk and miso until combined.
Step 3:
Gently stir the wet bowl contents into your dry mix, until smooth.
Step 4:
Mix in your chocolate chips (or pieces from a broken up chocolate bar).
Step 5:
Pour the mixture into your tin and give it a couple of gentle taps against the counter to help the mixture settle. Then bake in your oven for 25 minutes. Make sure to check the center with a toothpick, if it comes out clean the blondies are done. If the mixture clings to it, give it a few more minutes.
Step 6:
While the blondies bake. Prepare your tahini sauce, a dash of vanilla extract. Mix the tahini with the hot water and a dash of vanilla extract until it's a glaze-like consistency. You can even add some cinnamon if you like. When the blondies have cooled, drizzle the glaze over the top.
Step 7:
Slice and enjoy!

Hi, I’m Jacynthe. I’m a Project Officer in the Alliance Food Sourcing Programme team at FareShare/Felix, where we tackle some of the most difficult-to-source surplus. We visit factories across the country to help them tweak their processes so that when surplus is inevitably created, it can be safely diverted to charities instead of going to animal feed, anaerobic digestion, or landfill.
We’ve worked on some incredible projects, such as our partnership with Barfoots of Botley—a vegetable producer in the south of England. They worked with us to package offcuts from their vegetable processing line, which the charities we serve love using for stews and soups! We even have some great recipes to make the most of them.
I only started baking last year for a workplace "Bake-Off" fundraiser. I reached out to my friends for their best recipes, and these vegan blondies from my friend Anna were a standout. She makes the most comforting food that makes you feel almost as good as one of her hugs! This recipe is a real crowd-pleaser; the miso adds a rich, caramel flavor. So, if you still have a jar of miso sitting in the fridge from that one time you tried a Japanese recipe, give this a go!
With a little help from our friends...

Christmas is often a time for overindulgence. So, for many the New Year is all about the new you, and January is the month to make healthier choices and try to eat better. But many working parents say providing a healthy diet for themselves and their children is too expensive.
