Why do we need drivers?

Right now, the UK is faced with a threat of food shortages due to the loss of 100,000 lorry drivers due to COVID-19 and Brexit – which is creating 48 tonnes of food waste each week. To rescue this good food, we need your help. This shortage has also affected The Felix Project and we are currently struggling to rescue surplus food and deliver it to those who need it.

Become a volunteer Felix driver

Driver Volunteer

We’re looking for volunteer drivers to help collect food from our generous suppliers and deliver it to charities and schools across London. To become a Felix Driver, you must be able to drive a van confidently, and:

  • Have a full driving licence with less than 6 points on the licence
  • Be over 21 years old
  • Have been driving for over 1 year
  • Ideally, you will have some professional driving experience
  • Be available for 2-3 hour driving shifts.

You will also be asked to complete a driving assessment with us before you can go out in the van on your own.

I am naturally very curious so love visiting the various charities that we drop food off at and the companies we collect food from chatting with people working at them and finding out what they do, if I am lucky I get a tour as well. I love driving a big white van … oops I mean a green Felix van!
